Dispatchers are trained in call-taking and radio dispatching. This includes Emergency Medical Dispatch, CPR, and Crisis Intervention (CIT). State statute requires 40 hours of initial Telecommunicator training, for which we utilize the APCO Basic Telecommunicator Course.
Dispatchers have to recertify for EMD every 2 years with 24 hours of continuing education, CPR recertification every 2 years, and APCO recertification every 2 years with 24 hours of continuing education.
